Why Hygiene Matters
Suction machines come in direct contact with respiratory secretions. Improper hygiene can lead to cross-contamination risks. Especially for rental or shared equipment, thorough cleaning and parts replacement is required after each use.
Parts We Replace
- Bacterial filter — replaced after each return
- Hydrophobic filter — replaced after each return
- Suction tubing — replaced after each return
- Disposable collection jar/canister — replaced after each return
- Connectors — replaced if damaged
Parts We Clean
- Machine housing — cleaned and disinfected
- Reusable collection jar — heat disinfected or autoclaved
- Vacuum control knob — cleaned and disinfected
- Carrying bag — washed and disinfected
Filter Policy
Hydrophobic filters prevent liquid from entering the machine. Once wet, suction may decrease or stop. Must be replaced immediately and not washed for reuse. Bacterial filters must be changed between different users.
Tubing Policy
Tubing should be checked before each use for cracks, kinks, contamination or poor connection. Rental equipment tubing is replaced with new tubing after each return.
Collection Jar Policy
Disposable collection jars are discarded after each use. Reusable jars are heat-disinfected or autoclaved after each return and checked for seal integrity.
Suction Test
Every machine must pass a suction test after cleaning and parts replacement. Maximum vacuum must be reached within 20 seconds per manufacturer specifications. Machines that fail are repaired before re-rental.
Battery Check
Rechargeable machines must pass a battery test before rental, confirming charging function and sufficient capacity.
